AntiVirus software, and Firewalls

If you have a firewall, or an antivirus package, you may need to configure either or both of them so that System Access and SAMNet can use your Internet connection. The following Windows based software is known to introduce some incompatibilities with System Access and SAMNet. If you have one of these software packages, it is recommended that you switch to a comparable package that is known to work well with a wide variety of software, including Serotek products. This list will change as new undesirable software is located.

Norton Antivirus and Norton Security Suite will prevent System Access from obtaining Updates. If you continue to use these packages, you will want to periodically deactivate Norton to allow System Access to obtain Updates.

McAfee Security has been known to prevent System Access from accessing the Internet, even after instructing the software to allow it.

At the time of this writing, Microsoft Security Essentials and Vipre Antivirus are two programs which consistently work well with Serotek software.

Please remember that Serotek technical Support does not provide support for networking or configuration of security software. We can provide suggestions; however, it is Up to you to follow through to successfully configure your system.

Dan Shelley: McAfee

As someone who just received a computer system as a gift, I just found that I received a free six month subscription to McAfee antivirus included with the Aser Experien system. It is, then, up to me whether to purchase a different antivirus program, install Microsoft Security Essentials as a free program or try to figure out whether to use the free McAfee software. The first two compatible options seem like the best choices.
