Inbox, or sometimes referred to as Mailbox, is used to describe your personal mailbox on the computer. In postal mail, you have a physical mail box. The mail box in Email is inside the computer. When you check for new mail, you are looking in your mail box for new email that someone has sent you.
The email address, or simply address, is just your email address, or the person that you are sending mail to. An example could be some1@samobile.net. Case isn't usually important unless indicated, but punctuation is very important. If one letter, or punctuation symbol is wrong, your message could be sent to someone else entirely, or your message will bounce. If your message bounces, it's because no email address exists.
A Subject is just a title for the email message. It is meant to be a very short summary of what your message is about. If you are Emailing a friend about flowers, you would want to enter a subject that reflects that. Subjects are one line, as are email addresses, and subjects should be about 60 characters, or less. It is considered bad, "nediquet" to not include a subject. This is because people may get many many emails a day, and if your message doesn't include a subject, that person will have no idea what your message is about. As a result, it will be difficult for that person to accurately sort your message.
A Body is just the text of your email message. However, it doesn't include the email address, or the subject.
What are pop3 servers? This is simply the most common variety of email server. You really don't need to know much more than that to use email with the SA Mobile Network.
CC, or BCC are initials that either mean Carbon Copy, or Blind Carbon Copy, respectively. The way you use these is for sending one email message to multiple addresses at once. This means that you only type, or speak one message, and that one message is duplicated, and then sent to many people. The difference between a CC, and BCC is the CC shows all addresses that you send the email to, and BCC doesn't show the addresses. Bcc's are good in the case of forwards.
A Forward is an Email message that you get, and then decide to send on to someone else. Any message that you send, could be forwarded to someone else.
Replies are pretty straight forward. When you send that message to your friend about flowers, and your friend sends you a message in return we say that your friend has replied to your message. You can reply back to your friend's message.
An attachment is a file that is attached to an email message. This attached file could be a text document, a picture, audio, or even video. One example of an attachment is the SA Mobile Network's use of audio messages in the form of voice email messages. When you send, and or receive a voice message via email, you are actually attaching an audio file to the email message itself.
Spam is simply junk Email. Spam has been blamed for slowing down email servers, as well as tricking users into divulging personal information about themselves to groups who miss use that information. Obviously, spam, as well as virus attacks can be a big problem for some people. We do incorporate spam, and virus protection for all email messages however.
An Address Book is an electronic Rolodex within your computer that has all of the email addresses that you frequently use. Once an address is in the address book, you can say, or type the name into the to field, and the message will be sent to that person, without needing to type in the entire email address itself.
From within the Email application, just select "Send A Message". You can then choose between sending a text message, or a voice message. If you choose the text option, you may choose a recipient from your SA Mobile Network address book, or fill in the email address manually. You can then fill out the cc, bcc, subject, and body fields as needed. You can also opt to include your signature, by checking the associated check box, as well as spell check your message. You can also send attachments by activating the "Attach a file" button. Once you activate the button, you may type in a file name and path, or you may browse to the file that you wish to attach by activating the browse button. Once you have found the file that you wish to attach, just activate the "Attach" button. When you're done, just activate the send button.
If you choose the voice option, you can fill out the email address manually, or add the recipient from the SA Mobile Network address book. You still will need to fill out the cc, bcc, and subject fields as needed. However, because this is a voice message, the body field is missing. Instead you can record your message with Control+r, Stop message play back with Control+S, or Play/pause, your message with Control+P . When your done, activate the send button, or press Control+Enter to send your message. Note, for convenience, you may send email from the web interface.

When you do you will be presented with two list boxes. The first list box contains all of the contacts in your SA Mobile Network Address Book. The second list box contains the fields in the email form. You must first select a contact from the first list box by moving to the list box, then tapping the down arrow to move through the list, then tab, and select a field to which the contact's email address should be entered, to, cc, or bcc. Then tab once more, and press the add button, then tab again, and activate the return to message button.
Checking your Email can be done one of two ways. You can go to Email right from the assistant, desktop, or if you hear the email sound, you can bring up a pop up window, (with the alt+M keyboard command), and check your email without losing your place. Once you get into email you can check for new mail, read saved mail, send a new message, or manage your address book. You can also move messages to folders. You can create your own folders to help you organize messages that you receive. To check email on third party pop3, accounts you will need to use the third party accounts link. While you are browsing your email, you can tab/Shift+tab to the buttons on the page, or use the keyboard commands. If you want to read a message while in the drop down list box, just tap enter on the message that you want to read. If you want to delete a message, just tap the delete key. To reply to a message, just tap Control+R. If you wish to reply to all recipients of a message, just press control+shift+r. Finally, to forward a message, just press control+shift+f. Note as a convenience, you can check you're email with the web interface.
Warning! If you get email that you do not want to lose, Please create a folder for that email to be stored in. This is very important. Doing this will save the email on your home system, and will prevent your email from being lost. This will occur if your email box is 10 megabytes in size, or if email is older than 60 days.
If you get a particular email that you think someone else will enjoy, you can forward them the email message. While you are reading the message, you can activate the "Forward" button, either by tabbing/Shift+Tabbing to the button, arrowing to the button, or simply by tapping Control+Shift+F. Then just send the Email in the usual fashion. The recipient of the email message will get the forwarded email as an attachment.
When you reply to Email, you can have the SA Mobile Network automatically quote the original message's text, by checking the check box called "Quote original message in reply".
You can also add the address of the person to whom you are replying to by checking the "Add the sender to the address book when I reply" check box. After you have made your selections, just activate the reply button.
