SAMNet and Security

In some ways, we consider ourselves somewhat like a bank. The similarities are there. A bank gives you an account number, a pin, etc. Those items serve two purposes. The first is to identify you. The second is to secure your stuff from others who have no business in your business. This is one of the reasons for our security. We store your account settings not only for the SA Mobile Network itself, but also for countless web sites. Web sites that have to do with banking, travel, goods and other services, just to name a few. Because of this, you should expect rather tight security.

The second reason is simply the fact that we have worked extremely long and hard on our software and content. We take pride in what we have done on both a personal level, as well as a professional level. We are honored to have been able to serve the blind and visually impaired community with advancements in technology to help make your life more profitable, and independent. Because we have worked so hard on this technology, we do want to make sure it stays with us. It would be like leaving a work of art on a public bench for anyone to see, and take.

Please be assured that we make every effort to not only secure our products, but also make them easy to use, despite the security measures that we put in place. We have never sacrificed ease of use for security's sake, and we don�t plan on doing that at all!

Machine IDs

Machine IDs are how Serotek identifies computers. These machine IDs are also used to verify that a valid software license is present on a given computer. If a hard drive becomes corrupted, or you buy a new computer, Serotek staff can reset the machine ID to allow a refresh of the software license. Please be advised that this process is closely monitored by Serotek in order to prevent abuse of the software license. If a true emergency occurs, the primary machine ID, or the secondary machine ID can be reset, thereby allowing Serotek software to run for you again. If you require this emergency measure, please call Serotek customer support.
