Getting Started!

Welcome to the System Access Mobile Network, referred to from this point forward, as SAMNet. In addition to a talking web browser, SAMNet provides email via text or voice recordings, CD burning, text or voice notes, bookmarks, presets, your own customizable newspaper, thousands of recipes, radio stations, described movies, your own blog, news, community forums, voice and text chat, TV listings, your local weather, newspapers, books, shopping, games, and so much more. And with new items added every day, you will never run out of things to do. This Help file takes you through the capabilities of SAMNet from initial installation to accessing your computer remotely while you are on the road, from any Internet connected computer.

We suggest you read the entire file to get a sense of the power and capability of SAMNet. Then refer back as you start using these features. If you run into a problem, be sure to check back here first before calling technical support.

General Tips

Start SAMNet by pressing Control+Alt+N. To go back to the previous page, just press alt+Left arrow, or press back space. To close a window, and or disconnect from SAMNet, press escape. To bring up help at any time, press alt+H.

Connecting to SAMNet for the First Time

When you connect to SAMNet, it will ask you for your account number and your pin number. Your account number is your telephone number including the area code. Serotek assigns you a pin number when you order your software. When you connect to SAMNet, you should automatically be placed on the account number edit box. Type either your account number, or user name, then tab to the pin password edit box. Type in your pin, then press enter.

Important, if you need to try logging on again, you will need to delete your account and pin numbers from the two edit boxes. The easiest way is to press backspace and type in the complete numbers again. Note: when in the pin number edit box, you will not hear the actual digits of your pin number, instead, you will hear tones to denote you are in a password field. This is a security measure put in place to prevent others from seeing or hearing your pin number.

Once you're on the SAMNet desktop, the system will automatically read your choices. Or you can move around the desktop using the arrow keys, or tab to move forward, and shift-tab to move in reverse. When you hear the item you want, press enter. To read a page, press control+down arrow. Press the control key to silence speech. You can always resume reading by issuing another read command. When you are finished using SAMNet, press escape. You will be asked do you really want to exit the SA Mobile Network, just press enter or Y for yes.
