www..samobile.net

My aim is to provide a website with both useful and accessible links for disabled people and their carers. I will try to include links which I myself have found useful along the way as well as links given to me in times of need. I am also hoping to include information on pleasurable pastimes such as: music, sport and children’s recreational activities. As this is going to be my first attempt at building my own website any valuable feedback would be gratefully received.
My email address
will be included for direct contact.

My skills
Using a computer,

good mobility,
good oral communication skills,
the ability to understand people with speech difficulties,
heightened sense of touch example texture of clothes, wires, coins.
A good memory for numbers dates, shopping lists.
The ability to be able to get on to the same level of understanding with people I mix with.
Mental arithmetic
Braille,
French.
My interests
Computing, going to church, studying, socializing, swimming, walking, playing the flute, travelling, reading, disability campaigning and watching factual television documentaries and films based on true events.
Here is a link to an organization called Circles network. They are running a 2 year project to try and help disabled people break down the barriers they face. Information on employment related issues for disabled people.

What I would like to do as a job.
I would like to work with people who have special needs. Using my Braille and computing knowledge, I would like to either help in a one-to-one situation or teach a group of people. If I can’t do this then I wouldn’t mind using my skills in some kind of technical support job answering the telephone. I am also thinking about perhaps setting up in business providing Braille for people who need it as there are not many providers around this area. To do this though I would need to acquire a Braille printer which costs a lot of money. My other thoughts would be to raise disability awareness in schools, colleges and among the employment sectors both public and private.
I hope that the information and links on this site are useful and easy to navigate. If anyone who visits has any difficulty accessing these pages or has any suggestions of links they would like to see, please do not hesitate to let me know. Leave your comments and messages here if you wish. Thank you.
