A great weekend in Utah. Friday night, we were at the Fieldstone Homes company picnic and evening at the zoo. They had a great bird show, with many varieties doing many things; talking parrot, and many various flyovers. There was a raven, who was described as a bird of prosperity, according to English folklore, if the raven lands on your house, prosperity you shall have. They asked for volunteers from the audience, so the raven could hand the lucky soul five dollars. The catch was, you had to give ***him five dollars from your wallet, and he’d give it back, maybe. No takers at first. They all had suspicious looks on their faces. I stood up, money in hand. Mr. Prosperity flew down, divebombed on to my right arm and cleanly took the money. It then took quite a bit of coaxing for him to give it back. Turns out he probably didn’t like the yellow wrist bands we were wearing as a group. I’ve never really felt a bird up close before. He had quite the talons, but I only felt his weight as he landed. Hmmmm. Maybe the size and mass of a small rotissery chicken from the deli?? Quite the adventure!!
