Getting Started with Sero on Amazon Fire TV and Echo Devices

Note: If you are reading this article aloud using text-to-speech, and you are near one of the devices described in this article, you should use headphones rather than speakers, to avoid accidentally triggering the device.

Sero is available for devices in the Amazon Fire TV and Echo families, as well as other devices that support Amazon's Alexa platform. It's easy to start using Sero on these devices. Here's how.

  1. If you're using a Fire TV or Fire TV Stick, press the microphone button on the remote, then say, "Enable Sero skill."

If you're using an Echo device or other Alexa-based device that's always listening, say, "Alexa, enable Sero skill."

Note: You may need to spell out the name Sero by saying, "enable S E R O skill", to make sure Alexa understands you.

  2. Open the Amazon Alexa app on your iOS or Android device and go to the skills section.

  3. Search for the Sero skill.

  4. Enter your Sero login information, such as your username and password.

  5. If you're using a Fire TV or Fire TV Stick, press the microphone button on the remote, then say, "Open Sero skill."

If you're using an Echo device or other Alexa-based device that's always listening, say, "Alexa, open Sero skill."

Note: You may need to spell out the name Sero by saying, "open S E R O skill", to make sure Alexa understands you.

  6. From there you will be given a list of choices and you can say either the name or the number of the one you want.

Note that because Alexa is designed from the start to be used by voice, the details of using Sero on Alexa are quite different than on other devices and computers, so the rest of this help documentation doesn't apply to Sero on Alexa. Also note that, due to limitations of Alexa skills, many features of Sero aren't available in the Sero Alexa skill, which is focused on browsing and playing audio. We look forward to bringing more of Sero to Alexa when we are able to do so.
