Tonight's Pizza ordering Plunge

Posted:

Oh well. This one was a horror. The deliverer at the door was fine, but the phone fella was a total mumble. A youngster probably not wanting to be there on Sunday night. I was too busy scrambling to ask him to repeat and confirm, that I ended up botching up my own order. And so it goes. I’ll try again next time, that is, when I take pizza off the vacation list in general. I realize I’m pizzaed out in general for the moment, along with yogurt. They’re both being sent packing for a while (grin). Hmmmm. Yogurt pizza?? No thanks, thank you for calling, we don’t have a winner… (smile)

Latest Skype update

I finally found and was told where the applications key is on the laptop, the one that rightclicks and brings up the context menu. It is next to the power belly button. Oh yes, the laptop is a Dell Latitude D620. I’ll dabble further and see if the mike is skype working. We know it works for audio posts and sending voice email, but the skype is a puzzler at the moment.

Monday's massive right ear mapping session

Posted:

It was a great multi hour session. A total 3 month diagnostic of all electrode channels, for volume adjustment purposes. Yes, I was ready for a volume increase for the new 4 programs default settings. Up and down the tonal scales we journeyed for balance to the max. ***And, for my single word random testing score this time… ***88 percent, only 3 missed words!! My highest score to date!! And, I got the green light to add on the FM system microphone to the right side. (That’s Mr. Microphone, for those who know that drill). I look forward to that being quite a doozy of an assist. I’ll be able to have the 1 Mr. Microphone usable on both sides. It means getting a teeny tiny receiver for the right, like the teeny tiny receiver on the left aid, a $1200 add-on, but that is very fine!!

All is and was well, both ways of traveling. I christened in the new way of handling security with no trouble whatsoever!! Yep, they didn’t have to make me fly last class; that is, no need to stick me to the outside of the plane!!

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow evening, and this weekend!! And when I return, I’ll give a full report as to whether or nott I was asked to stick meself to the side of the outside of the plane, to test yet another innovative use for the magnahead!! (smile)

Thanks, Dr. Chorost, for your return note. Glad you dropped in here, and I look forward to meeting you in person on your return to Boulder for next year’s World Affairs Conference at C U. I’m really enjoying the book, as we read along, and I hope those I tell about it will have the chance to read it.

Off to N Y

Next Thursday is the annual gathering fundraiser for Independence Residences, the group home organization where my brother Peter lives, and where Mom and Dad always have gone above and beyond, helping out wherever and whatever they are asked. Just like they always do all the time, in many situations. Congratulations to Mom and Dad!! You truly always deserve being the honorees!!

Speaking On Monday

Posted:

Time once again to speak to the phd graduate students class. When I did that before for that class, I was on a panel, but this time, I get to go solo. I feel very honored.

Another great session this week

Posted:

Seems as though I’ve graduated from the weekly acoustic sessions, and go onto the level of as needed sessions!! I was pleased to have done well, and received a magnetic gold star for the side of my head (smile). Well, that ***would be a neat concept. But, as is, hmmmm. Maybe that would increase the magnetism level I seem to be heading for needing, since I’m still getting all kinds of burbling, sounds, as a result of lots of hair growth. Time for a haircut tomorrow. Nan said the best thing I can do for practice even at this early stage, is to simply go through life, rather than having to come in for an hour at a time. I still have my clinic mapping sessions, and, if acoustic tweak therapy needs arise, we can coordinate them at the same time prior to the clinic sessions. A great feeling of progress indeed. More and more, I certainly can rely on right side only!! The goal is to get a good balance sense of how both sides can work together.

Skype technopeasant difficulties

Posted:

Yep, beyond my control for sure at the moment. I can hear if someone is calling, but see no keyboard commands yet how to navigate anything with it. The only thing I think I can do is text chat when pressing enter on a listed contact. And the only way a call can answer is if I have it sett o auto answer, but I’d rather answer when it rings. I can hear the person but only with a lot of hum on the signal, and I cannot be heard so far. Not sure what’s what with audio devices yet, but I know the mike works great here, as you certainly have heard audio postings when you can. I definitely need skype navigation tutelage, whoever wants to be drafted for that.

As I was saying...

Lordy. I hit the mouse, and that last posted before I was done (laugh) I was just going to add that we’ll be doing more isolation sound work, especially further examining the balance between focusing on the sound that wants to be heard, intermixed with background noises of various intensities. Now, I’ll post this before we have further mouse droppings this evening (smile)

Well, I made this really nice audio post all about last night’s sound adventures, as it comes across better with an audio post, but, everytime I’ve tried posting audio the last several days, I get an error saying freedombox has been notified. Hope if I approach them about it they don’t simply say “Huh??” Oh well. I’ll just have to post it on the phone voicemail, for the next episode of “From Hagendass to Hotdogs”, which I’ll do tomorrow, after ear session.

Hearing Loss association chapter meeting saturday

For the first time, they will be featuring an appearance by all 3 implant manufacturers. They will all present what’s new, and what’s going on with the latest everything. In my implant starter kit from Cochlear Corporation, I received a catalog of all kinds of goodies you can buy. Since Cochlear is an Australian company, you know what you can purchase?? A stuffed coala bear, wearing a processor!! Now I think that’s a ***fine idea!! And regarding the presentation at the meeting, Hmmmm. Let’s see now. How would we describe that? Shall we call it total magnetism on parade??

Yes, learning more and more and more as I go along. Next speech sessions is Wednesday morning. On Friday, I ***did happen to have a mighty fine hagendas misinterpreted hearing speech moment, which really must be added to the file. Curtis and I were working on scripting new menus for the telephonereader system. The choices are things like press 10 for arapahoe county news which includes so on and so forth.
Press 11 for boulder county news which includes so on and so forth.
While this was going on, in the background, the onair feeds were playing audibly. Curtis was making his way down the list, when he suddenly said, “oh dear, yet another “which includes”.”
As in, he said the words “which includes”.
I pondered that comment for a few moments, and then said, “oh, I see. You were saying another choice with another occurrence of “which includes”. I thought you were referring to the newspaper playing in the background on the air, and I thought you said, “oh dear, another wiccan cruise.” Or, “oh dear, another witching cruise”!! (laugh) Yep please, make mine 2 scoops with all the toppings!! (smile)

Post Happy Easter

Hmmmm. Could that be like Post Alphabits cereal?? Had a great time with the Littleton crew yesterday. I got there early, so Maryann gave me a lesson in preparing the eggs for devilled eggs. I didn’t fill them, but learned how to halve them and hollow them and get the yolk ready accordingly. There were 8 over for dinner, lovely ham, yam, potato casserole, corn casserole, frog eye salad, and marvelous bread pudding for dessert. Quite a fill!! And Mary T had sent marshmallow chickens which I indulged in earlier.
